Dear XXX, 

 

I am enquiring about the job role/title of ‘Director’ for the Music Video Project being held at Long Road Sixth Form to which I was informed about via Email. 

 

I believe I would be a suitable and excellent candidate for the role of ‘Director’ on this project as I have been presented the role before and have been given positive feedback based on my performance from both crew and cast. I work well within a team and keep everyone on the same page in pre-production and production. I try to keep an open mind and listen to what others have to say and what they believe works well in their area e.g. Cinematographers and their visual eye as a whole. However mostly I keep my actors and actresses updated and happy, making sure they understand what it is that is needed from them and bringing out their best performance through my direction. 

 

An example of these efforts as a Director can be found through some of my previous projects such as ‘A Game of Shadows’ (a 5min opening to a Long Form TV Series), ‘Elizabeth’ (A title sequence) and ‘Re-Homing: A Cat’s Life’ (A short Documentary). In all of these I had to direct my actors/actresses to give the best and most fitting performance to the genre we were working with whilst doing it through different methods each time due to the environment and purpose of their performance/film. 

 

Other then ‘Director’ I also believe I would make a good ‘Cinematographer’ or ‘Art Director’. This is based on my quality of camera work over the last few years and that of my feelings on set and costume design being just as important to film and is something that I visually will try to make look aesthetically pleasing as possible for the intended audience. Both of these roles are heavily influenced in the ‘Elizabeth’ piece mentioned previously in my past work.
